The fire was started accidentally

In conversation with the injured party, it was determined that the fire was caused by him accidentally starting a fire. While smoking a cigarette, he accidentally set fire to dry grass while working in the yard, and the fire spread quickly. Due to health problems, he was unable to escape the fire on his own.

Other neighbours also came to the scene, as well as two units of the Volunteer Fire Department in Pacyna, which helped with the fire extinguishing operation.

The burned man was taken to hospital

Due to the serious burns to a large area of his body, including his arms, legs, abdomen, chest and respiratory tract, it was decided to transport the 69-year-old by helicopter of the Air Ambulance Service to the hospital in Warsaw. The policeman who saved the man from the flames is Senior Warrant Officer Łukasz Torno, head of the Pacynie police station, who has been in the police service for 18 years – added Junior Warrant Officer Paweł Klimek.
