The volleyball tournament has entered its decisive phase. On Friday, at 4:00 p.m. sharp, the bronze medal match between the United States and Italy began. On Saturday, at 1:00 p.m., the White and Reds will face the defending champions, France, in the grand finale.

Just two days ago, the Americans were one step away from advancing to the Olympic finals. In the fourth set of the semi-final against Poland they were leading, but the White and Reds turned the tide of the matchthey made it to a tie-break and won there! The US volleyball players were left to fight for bronze with Italy, the 2022 world champions.

From the beginning of the clash for third place, both teams played at a high level. In fact, the entire set was played point for point. Both the Americans and the Italians looked well prepared. In the end, however, the Americans dominated and won the first set to 23.

In the second set, the United States volleyball players looked slightly better than the Italians, although the latter showed some fighting spirit towards the end. They even had a set point! However, the Americans turned the tide of the set around and won by a margin of 30:28.

The beginning of the third set was a show of the Americans. After a dozen or so minutes they were already leading by six points! The Italians looked destroyed. They managed to tie the score at 15 and everything started again. Despite many nerves and emotions in the end, the volleyball players from the United States finally won the third set, the whole match and on Saturday they will be wearing bronze medals.
