The first cherries on the market
The first domestic cherries have already appeared, and prices were not as terrible as you could expect. On May 28, on the Bronisza wholesale market, the Rivan variety cost PLN 18-20/kg. In other places, the expenses could be a little higher up to PLN 45 per kilo. Much also depends on the variety, e.g. Kasandra with thicker fruits remained at the level of about PLN 40/kg. And it is for the price and variety that one of the growers claims.
Cheap fruit is “spoiling the market”
How I'm writing O2 portal, On one of Warsaw bazaars you can buy cherries for PLN 14/kg. This is mentioned Rivan variety. These are early fruits, less popular among fruit growers than later Burlat. Currently, Rivan in Broniszy also costs about PLN 15-20/kg. However, the fruits of this variety will not be too much this season. This is a problem for fruit growers. – This is the spoilage of the market. Maybe this lady has cherries next to the house, she called and came to sell. That is why she does not care about high prices. Unfortunately, this lady underestimates the price for many fruit -growers – Izabela Kaczorowska, who runs the portal “Woman in the orchard”, explained in an interview with O2.
It is difficult to explain to customers a raise
In the following weeks, the Burlat variety, which requires longer breeding and is more expensive, will begin to dominate the stalls. – Burlat will appear in a week. How to explain the increase to the client? This should not look like this – summed up Mrs. Izabela. She also stated that lowering prices, if there is not much goods, then “shot in the knee”. How addedgrowers bear considerable costs related to spraying and include them in the price of fruit.
Imported fruit in discount stores
In discount stores you can also buy cherries imported, e.g. Spain. However, you have to pay even several dozen zlotys per kilo. The prices of imported fruit are at least twice as high as a year ago. Record prices, related to frosts and weaker collections, are recorded throughout Europe. Considering domestic fruits, it is also worth focusing on larger expenses than in the previous season.
