Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.
IMWM warnings of the second degree – heavy rain with thunderstorms
Second degree warnings for heavy rain from storms concern the following voivodeships:
- lubuskiecounties located in the southern half of the region;
- Greater Polandcounties: Grodzisk, Wolsztyn, Leszno, LesznoKościan;
- Lower Silesiacounties located in the west and north-west of the region.
Moderate rainfall is forecast, with periods of heavy rainfall. The amount of rainfall in places will be up to 70 liters per square meter. The rainfall will be accompanied by storms with wind gusts of up to 65 kilometers per hour. Locally, small hail is possible.
The warnings will be valid until 1 a.m. Saturday.
First degree IMWM warnings – heavy rain with thunderstorms
Lower-level warnings for heavy rain that will occur during storms have been issued for the following provinces:
- Lower Silesiaoutside the counties covered by higher level warnings;
- Greater Polandfor the following counties: Gostyń, Rawicz, Krotoszyń, Ostrów, Ostrzeszów, Kępno;
- Lodzfor the Wieruszów and Wieluń counties;
- Opole.
In these places, up to 55 l/m2 of rain is expected to fall, and the wind during storms will also accelerate to gusts of up to 65 km/h. Small hail may fall.
The warnings will expire at 4 a.m. Saturday.

Yellow storm alerts apply in the following provinces:
- Silesianin the southern counties;
- Lesser Polandin the counties located in the south of the region;
- Subcarpathianin the counties of Sanok and Krosno, loomJasielski.
Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to 30 l/sq m and wind gusts of up to 70 km/h. Locally, hail.
The warnings will be valid from 12pm to 8pm on Friday.
