Hongkong enveloped thick fog on Sunday. Masses of humid air came to the metropolis, which caused a drastic deterioration of visibility. A sudden change in the weather worried some of the inhabitants who confused fog with fires.
On Sunday, the masses of warm, moist air from the South China Sea flowed over Hong Kong, causing mists and fogglets. In the afternoon, visibility in the port fell to 1000 meters, while on the island of Peng Chau – up to 500 m. The upper floors of the skyscrapers disappeared in the fog, which encouraged many residents to capture the extraordinary view.
Fog thick as smoke
Fog also turned out to be a cause for concern. Around 17 o'clock the local fire brigade from Hong Kong received information about thick smoke floating in the Whampoa Garden district and a possible fire. After the arrival of the firefighters, it turned out that the streets were enveloped in extremely thick fog.
According to Dim Sun Daily, the foggy and gentle aura will not last too long. On Tuesday, a cold atmospheric front is to undergo the region, bringing with it the first heavy rainfall and storms this year.
