The authorities of the capital of the Philippines reported that due to the increase in the noticeable temperature to 47 degrees Celsius, which coincided with the beginning of the dry season, half of the schools in Manila were closed on Monday. The National Meteorological Service warned that the so -called heat indicator, which is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity, will reach a “dangerous” level in Manila and in two other regions of the Philippines.
A threat to health and life
According to The Manila Times, the temperature felt in the Nueva Ecija region north of the capital will reach 47 degrees. As marked, such weather conditions may have a lot of consequences for health and well -being. It was mentioned that the occurrence of muscle cramps and thermal exhaustion is very “likely”.
Therefore, the authorities undertook preventive measures, recommending to suspend classes in schools. The sender of ABS-CBN announced that in some manila districts classes were canceled at all levels of teaching, while in others younger children were sent to their homes. According to the Education Department, over 2.8 million students attend school in the capital area.
