Poland has become a tourist alternative to the Czechs, who until now went on vacation primarily to Croatia. This, however, became too expensive for many of them. – Czech tourists are active. They like to ride bicycles, walk on the beach or swim with kayak. I think that in Poland this is the magnet – said the head of the Polish Tourist Organization in the Czech Republic Pavel Trojan.
The study “Holiday Barometer” covering 23 countries of the world and the Ipsos center shows that due to high prices in Croatia Czech They go there less numerous than before.
This was confirmed by the spokeswoman for the Invia Jirzina Ekrt JiRZTKOVA travel agency, saying that Croatia became too expensive for the Czechs and the number of trips to this country fell by 800,000 last year.
Croatia is a traditional destination for the Czechs for summer trips. They began to go there at the end of the 19th century and this country became such a popular destination for holiday travels that the Adriatic was hailed as “Czech sea”. After the war in the Balkans and the associated collapse in tourism, Croatia regained their former popularity among the Czechs.
Expert: We want to show the Czechs undiscovered parts of Poland
– Compared to Croatia, Poland is cheaper and attracts the Czechs with its diversity – said the head of the Polish Tourist Organization in the Czech Republic Pavel Trojan – Czech tourists are active. They like to ride bicycles, walk on the beach or swim with kayak. I think that in Poland this is a magnet – he added.
– For a long time we were promoting the most famous places (in Poland – ed.) To convince the Czechs that it is safe, interesting and that it is worth visiting them – said Trojan. – (Currently – ed.) We go further and want to show the Czechs undiscovered (so far by them – ed.). It is, for example, the Lubuskie Voivodship, Kashubia and cities such as Łódź, Lublin and Gdynia – mentions Trojan.
Czechs about Poland: I remember walks at sunrise for the whole year
Since Pandemia ended, 35-year-old Frantiszek visits Poland every year. A proven way of couples is a passage from Prague on German highways to Międzyzdroje, and then to the east, along the Baltic Sea coast. Praises Polish beaches; He claims, there are no similar ones anywhere else in the world.
“I have a dog and walking at sunrise on your beaches, I remember for the whole year,” he said. He comes from the Ostrava border located near the Polish border, which encouraged him to meet Poland. When asked about the “horror receipts”, which are scared in the media tourists, surprised by too high prices, e.g. meals in restaurants, Frantiszek emphasized that this is not just a Polish specialty.

Another Czech, a resident of Prague, intends to go to Poland on vacation with the whole family this year. This is their first such trip, so they thought about the destination for a long time; Ultimately, the choice fell on the area of Lake Gardno. On their route they also marked the Tri -City, Poznań and Bory Tucholskie.
Standard of Baltic Express trains to improve
Czechs can also go to Poland by rail, but some complain about the standard of traveling by Baltic Express trains, traveling from Prague through Wrocław, Poznań and Bydgoszcz to the Tri -City. Social media can find comments on the purity of wagons and toilets or the lack of a restaurant wagon on the Praga-Wrocław section.
– The train is full and it runs four times a day. I believe that great interest will translate into a higher quality of services. Since April there is a sleeping wagon, but for example, the WARS wagon is only attached in Wrocław. But this is just the beginning – the train has been running for only half a year, so there is something to improve – said Trojan.
He expressed the hope that Baltic Express would help Czech tourists discover e.g. Gdynia, omitted, as he assesses, among the Tri -City attractions. Different other, not reported by the Czech Republic, Polish regions have the opportunity to promote themselves during the Polish Day, organized annually in the gardens of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Prague.
Number of Czechs visiting Poland
According to the data cited by Trojan, about 410,000 visited Poland last year. Czech tourists, while 850,000 come to Croatia a year. Czechs.
At the same time, he reserved that in Croatia, statistics regarding the arrival of tourists cover all types of places of residence, while in Poland they do not include people stopping in private quarters and smaller guesthouses, which means that the actual number of tourists in Poland could be much higher. He emphasized that this supposition confirms his conversations with the Czech consulate in Warsaw.
