Intensive rainfall related to the phenomenon was coming over the west coast of the United States atmospheric river. The first wave of downpour fell on Saturday and Sunday – warnings against flooding and limited visibility were issued in northern California. According to the National Weather Center (NWS), the hour of rainfall from the atmospheric river can be up to 6 liters per square meter.
They fled to the roof
The downpour caused a rapid rose of water in the rivers and flooding of the roads. Shast's family found out about it. On Sunday evening, three adults and three children traveled by pikap in the vicinity of the city of Palo Cedro, when flood waters began to rise around them. There was so much water that it was necessary to escape the roof of the vehicle.
Police and fire brigade from Shasta started to help a trapped family. The officers managed to locate them and transport them to a safe place with the help of a boat. On the recording of the rescue operation, you can see how deep water the travelers got stuck. Ultimately, nothing happened to anyone.

Not the only action
Shast's policemen had their hands full on Sunday. In the morning they received a report about a person who was trapped on a small island on the Clear Creek River. After the water rainfall, the stream rose and the current accelerated, preventing the imprisoned return to the dry land.
– Thanks to the use of rescue lines and Łódź, man was saved. He did not require medical assistance – officers donated on social media.
Policemen reminded that in time storm Avoid staying on the edges of streams and rivers. They also appealed to drivers to never enter the flooded roads, because the water level could rise in just a few minutes.
