Radosław Sikorski answered the questions of MPs after expose in the Sejm. He spoke, among others, about the development of the defense industry within the European Union. His speech was disturbed by PiS deputies.

Sikorski, while answering questions after expose in the Sejm, referred, among others, to the achievements of Poland during the presidency in the Council of the European Union. He pointed out, among other things, that security became the subject of discussion of three meetings of the European Council. He added that the conclusions adopted during them were consistent with the Polish narrative about deepening defense cooperation and increasing Europe's responsibility for their security.

He reminded that the European Commission announced flagship defense initiatives, including the White Book on European defense. – you may not agree with them, you can think that European Union She should not deal with defense. We have a different opinion, but the fact is that he deals with – he answered opposition MPs.

Sikorski: There will be real money for the defense industries

Sikorski emphasized that “there will be real money for the defense industries in the European Union and this is also for our case.” He announced that there is already a preliminary decision to finance the East shield from European funds and a preliminary agreement on a loan from the European Investment Bank in the amount of EUR billion.

– The East shield was entered in the White Book of the European Commission as an element of critical abilities. On the third anniversary of Russian aggression for Ukraine, the sixteenth packet of sanctions against Russia was adopted. It may seem to you, but Hungary They wanted to block this package and required a lot of diplomatic effort to dissuade Hungary from it – argued the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among the diplomatic achievements within the Polish Presidency in the EU, the minister also mentioned the adoption of a support instrument for reforms and economic growth in Moldova worth almost two billion euros.

Sikorski with a “quite convincing form of sanctions”

Sikorski, answering the questions of MPs, spoke, among others, about remedial activities in connection with the Russian “shadow fleet” in the Baltic. It is about tankers carrying Russian oil under foreign flags bypassing EU sanctions.

Sikorski pointed out that together with the Baltic partners, Poland proposed to cover the captains and crews of the “Shadow Fleet” ships. He informed that the first personal sanctions were imposed, which prevents these captains and crews from wrapping to the European Union ports. – And this means that they are harder to do. This is, it seems to me, a rather convincing form of sanctions – he assessed.

He added that the “real solution” would be to eliminate the flag, for example in the Caribbean, thanks to which you can – without paying real insurance – to use ships that do not meet the standards, for example, ecological. He noted that if there were oil leak from these tankers, then their insurance policies would not be possible to collect any compensation.

In February, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that on behalf of the Polish Presidency he presented the head of the EU diplomacy, the idea of ​​entering shadow fleet ships on the list. He explained that this would mean that these people could no longer enter the EU in the future, including European ports, their assets in the EU would also be frozen.

Sikorski: I had the position of the EU Commissioner offered on the tray

Sikorski also stated that he gave up the mandate of the MP to the European Parliament and “he is probably the first Polish politician who had the position of the EU Commissioner on the tray.”

– I decided that being a Polish minister of foreign affairs would be a greater honor and I hope that the opposition appreciates it – he said to PiS representatives. When the minister answered the questions, there were only a few representatives of this group in the plenary hall, and among them were the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński and Marcin Przystacz, as well as Radosław Fogiel. Politicians shouted several times from the parliamentary benches towards Sikorski, drowning out his speech. Monika Wielichowska, deputy marshal of the Sejm, intervened.

Sikorski about the “visa scandal” in the Philippines

PiS MP Kazimierz Choma asked about the “visa scandal” in the Philippines. As he said, intermediaries “take tribute” from the citizens of the Philippines applying for a Polish visa.

Sikorski admitted that “this happens between intermediaries and outsourcing companies, i.e. those that help to fill out forms for the consul.” He emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under his leadership changed contracts with outsourcing companies so that they were responsible for the liquidation of pathology.

He informed that a pilot was successfully introduced, which consists in the fact that the place in the queue to the consul is personalized. As he explained, someone cannot give way in the queue, and thus, you cannot trade this place.

At the beginning of January, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Polish embassy transferred to the Philippines a verbal note in connection with information about the interference of third parties in the process of issuing Polish visas. The embassy turned to explain this situation, detect fraudsters and punish them. A few days earlier, Wirtualna Polska published an article in which it was said that despite the disclosure of the visa scandal from PiS time, the procedure is continued. It cited the statements of Polish entrepreneurs from the Philippines, who in August last year were to warn the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that bribes were expected for arranging meetings in the case of Wiz.
