Three people died in a tragic accident on Vogla Street. The investigation is in its final stages. It was determined that the driver was speeding through a built-up area next to a pedestrian and bicycle path at speeds of up to 170 km/h. Residents are collecting signatures appealing to the city authorities and the police to take urgent action to improve safety on this street. – We do not want another tragedy – says Urszula Włodarska-Sęk, a KO councillor and the initiator of the campaign.

A tragic accident occurred on May 3. on Vogla Street. The BMW driver went off the road and hit a tree and a fence adjacent to the property. A fire broke out in the car, which witnesses tried to extinguish at first. When the fire brigade arrived at the scene, the fire was already well underway. Three people died.

The speedometer could have been 170 km/h.

– The proceedings are in their final stages – Piotr Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, told us. As we have established, investigators are still waiting for a toxicology report. They want to determine whether the driver was under the influence of a substance.

– On Thursday, an opinion was received from the field of accident reconstruction, which shows that the vehicle was moving at a speed of about 160-170 km/h – the prosecutor noted. Let us recall that Vogla in this section is a built-up area.

– Eyewitnesses say it was terrifying – Urszula Włodarska-Sęk, a Wilanów district councillor from KO, who is the initiator of the campaign to collect signatures under an appeal to the District Office, the Municipal Roads Authority and the police to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists on Vogla Street, tells the tvnwarszawa.pl portal. – There is usually a lot of pedestrian and bicycle traffic here. Fortunately, the car ran onto the path when no one was there – the councillor adds.

Włodarska-Sęk, who lives near Vogla Street, warns that few drivers obey the rules on this road. – There is a speed limit: on one section to 50 km/h, and on the other to 40. There are not only passenger cars and buses, but also trucks, which do not slow down either – she points out.

The councilor wants to send a petition to the mayor, ZDM and the police to talk about solving the problem. – We can increase traffic patrols to catch pirates. The fact that the police will be there more often will be a warning to these drivers – believes Włodarska-Sęk. She also proposes long-term solutions, such as launching sectional speed measurementspeed camera or road reconstruction. – That is why we are appealing to these institutions, to start talking about it. We do not want another tragedy – says the KO councilor.

The initiator of the campaign to improve safety on Vogla Street adds that the collection of signatures is still ongoing. – We want to collect more of them, because at the moment we have about 500. We would like to start the campaign after the holidays. Because in a moment this path will be even busier, because children use it to get to school – says Włodarska-Sęk.
