Return of goods scam: The police detained between December 18 and 20 11 warehouse workers, 10 Ukrainian citizens and a Belarusian woman aged 20 to 29. They worked in the returns warehouse of one of the clothing companies in the Zgierz district. Police findings show that from January 2024 to December 2024, together and in consultation, they could have exposed their employer to losses in the amount of nearly PLN 3 million. The police recovered some of the goods obtained from the crime.

This is how they were supposed to cheat on returns: The women were to order goods from the company where they worked and then enter information about the return of purchased products into the system. Thanks to this they could keep the purchased goods for themselvesand money from refunds will be transferred to their bank accounts. The ordered products were to be partly sold and partly kept for personal use.

How much do fraudsters face? They face punishment for their actions up to 10 years of imprisonment. The investigation into this case is being conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in Zgierz, which placed the women under police supervision combined with a ban on leaving the country.
