Mrs. Kornelia's due date is scheduled in less than three weeks and she has chosen a name for her son. – His name will be Florek – he says. Unfortunately, it is not certain where Florek will grow up, because for now it is not even possible to enter her house in Stronie Śląskie, which was damaged by the flood.
– I should sit down and sort my clothes, and not that I have to worry whether we will have a place to live with this child – says Kornelia Grzeszczuk.
Fortunately, she didn't start sorting the clothes earlier – they stayed in the attic and that was the only reason they were saved before entry to the building was banned.
Destroyed house
– The building inspector said that the building was closed, that you couldn't even remove the walls, you couldn't dry them, you couldn't go inside – recalls Mrs. Kornelia. – It simply threatens to collapse – he explains. – I don't know what will happen to this building. Will it need to be demolished or will the supervision tell us that we can renovate it? – he adds.
The day before the embankment broke at the dam in Stronie, they were evacuated, and then from a nearby hill they saw the river flowing through their house.

Before the flood, Mrs. Kornelia's fiancé was renovating the room where the three of them were supposed to live. – We wanted to create a separate bathroom and a separate kitchen there, and we started preparing everything – says Brajan Stanek, who is Mrs. Kornelia's fiancé.
– We were supposed to finish at the end of September. When the flood started, the screed was supposed to arrive, some furniture was supposed to arrive, we were supposed to lay panels, everything was supposed to be ready, but we were surprised by this situation – he adds.
The family started a fundraiser
It was a multi-generational house, Mrs. Kornela's mother and grandmother also lived here. – When we left here, we were thigh-deep in water. My brother took us up the hill. We packed, I only took my backpack. I thought that I would come back here and that I would be able to take something from this house – says Katarzyna Grzeszczuk, Mrs. Kornelia's mother.
Now the family is collecting moneyin the hope of regaining a place to live. Katarzyna Grzeszczuk was already imagining how her first grandson would play in the home garden. Today it is hard to even imagine that there was any garden here.
– I would like to be here, to do something, but I simply can't, because firstly, it's closed, and secondly, there are some more important obligations that I have to take care of: my mother, my daughter, to prepare for the child's arrival – emphasizes Katarzyna Grzeszczuk.
Fortunately, the boy is healthy, but Mrs. Kornelia needed help from doctors due to fatigue and stress. – She fainted, she was in the hospital. She had an accident a few days earlier – explains Katarzyna Grzeszczuk..
The family found temporary shelter in Lądek. They took some of the animals with them, including a kitten that was born just before the flood, and whose mother went missing just before the flood. Now it turned out that she is safe and sound – everyone wants to believe that this is a good sign.
