If not for the driver's quick reaction, there could have been a train disaster near Gliwice on November 11. A passenger train ran over a metal object on the tracks. Emergency braking was necessary. A man suspected of trying to derail the train was arrested by the police. He pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

A dangerous incident occurred in Rzeczyce on Monday, November 11. Just after 5 a.m., an Intercity express train from Racibórz to Olsztyn, traveling at a speed of 120 km per hour, encountered an obstacle on the tracks and made emergency braking. None of the 33 passengers and 5 crew members were injured.

– Technical services, the Railway Accident Investigation Committee and the Police were called to the scene. After four hours of intensive operations, the metal structure stuck under the locomotive was removed, which enabled the train to continue traveling, the police said.

The suspect was arrested

Just a dozen or so hours later, the Gliwice police arrested three people for the case. A 22-year-old man was charged with admitting to causing a direct risk of a railway disaster.
