The voters' decision is a warning signal for the Third Way. And we must draw conclusions from this, but our voters certainly do not expect a change in direction – said on Tuesday the Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, when asked about the results of the European Parliament elections.

On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and co-leader of the Third Way, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, received a series of questions from journalists in the context of the European Parliament elections.

– When it comes to the entire electoral triple jump, two jumps of the Third Way were very good and one was worse. And this needs to be summed up clearly and clearly. Without our result, PiS would not have been removed from power in 2023. Without votes for the Third Way, we would not have won in many local governments two months ago, when we got 14 percent, he said.

– Has public support changed radically for our parties over these two or seven months? No, the turnout structure in these elections is different. And different people vote in local government elections, and some in European elections. And there is another group for the parliamentary elections, he said.

– We do not downplay this result, but it cannot be translated one-to-one into action at the local or government level – he said.

Kosiniak-Kamysz: I am in favor of maintaining this cooperation within our parties

The Deputy Prime Minister was asked whether he would see himself as prime minister in a coalition of Polish affairs with PiS. – I have many tasks here and I think that this is not what Third Way voters expect, to change any coalitions today, but to cooperate well in the one that exists, because Poles have chosen such a coalition – he said.

– This decision of voters in the European elections is a warning signal for the Third Way. And we must draw conclusions from this, but our voters certainly do not expect a change in direction here, he added.

– To sum up, the effect of the last seven-eight months and three elections is positive for the Third Way. Is it a reason for satisfaction and joy today? Is not. Therefore, we need to draw conclusions, but I am in favor of maintaining this cooperation within our parties, even though we have separate clubs, and think about what else can be done together – said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

“Unfortunately, too many new MPs will not appear in the PSL club”

The politician was also asked whether the PSL-TD club is not afraid that the history of Łukasz Mejza will repeat itself and some new MPs replacing elected MEPs will be recruited to other clubs.

– You know, unfortunately too many new MPs will not appear in the PSL club, because we did not get many seats in the European Parliament (only one PSL MP became an MEP – Krzysztof Hetman – ed.), so the risks are limited. And this is not information that I would be happy about, replied Kosiniak-Kamysz.

– After Krzysztof Hetman, next on the list is Henryk Smolarz, a PSL MP who has been associated with the party for many, many years, probably 30 years in the PSL. I have no doubts here if he accepts the mandate. And next is the deputy voivode of Lublin, Andrzej Maj, who has been associated with PSL for 20 years. No problem, he added.

Thanks to General Kukuła. Only then political questions

Kosiniak-Kamysz answered questions during a conference at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense with Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk and the Chief of the General Staff, General Wiesław Kukuła, during which the most important findings from the report presented on Monday at the Council of Ministers and the National Security Council were presented.

When, during a series of questions, one of the journalists asked Kosiniak-Kamysz for a comment on the results of Sunday's elections to the European Parliament, the deputy prime minister said that he would answer this question, but after exhausting the topic of the conference.

– There is a general of the Polish Army with us and he is not called to participate in political conferences, and you are asking a political question. As long as there are questions about the topic of the conference or not only about the topic of the conference, but about the content and security of the Polish state, we are in this group – said the Deputy Prime Minister.

– Let's respect the general, because it's not about me or Minister Tomczyk. We will manage, but let's respect the soldier, the officer of the Polish Army – he added.
