Jarosław Kaczyński asked for “even small sums” after the National Electoral Commission rejected the financial report of the electoral committee PIS from the last parliamentary campaign. The party may lose about PLN 57 million as a result and be deprived of subsidies until the end of the term, i.e. until 2027. Hence the calls from politicians for a national fundraiser to fill this hole in the party's budget.
This is how much people pay to PiS. We know the amounts
Although a subsidy is one of the main sources of party financing, it is not the only one. Namely, a political party can also receive financial resources from citizens. The condition is to have Polish citizenship and permanent residence in the country. For several years, political parties have been obliged to conduct and provide register such payments. This way we can see who has already donated funds to the party this year.
So we look into the register of payments to the Law and Justice account and we see a lot of well-known names there. Radosław Fogiel paid 6.7 thousand zlotys, Kamil Bortniczuk 15.1 thousand zlotys, Marcin Warchoł 25 thousand zlotys, Marek Kuchciński 45 thousand zlotys… Politicians The list of PiS members who have donated to the party account could go on and on until tomorrow.
However, there are over 1,000 names on the list, many of which are party supporters. The amount of contributions varies greatly – from a few złoty to even tens of thousands. Support from a citizen in one year cannot exceed 15 times the minimum salarywhich currently amounts to PLN 4,300. Converting this, you cannot make a donation higher than PLN 64,500.
Obajtek, Szydło, Jaki. We know how much they donated to PiS
This limit was approached by, among others, PiS politicians' close ones. Anna Jaki, privately the wife of Patryk Jaki, paid 62 thousand zlotys, and Edward Szydło, privately the husband of Beata Szydło, paid 50 thousand zlotys. However, these are not the highest payments included in the register.
Namely, the candidate for MP, senator, President of the Republic of Poland and European Parliament being a Polish citizen can pay into thing electoral committee an amount not exceeding 45 times the minimum wage, i.e. approximately PLN 190,000.
Many PiS politicians took advantage of this opportunity. Among those who paid 100 thousand zlotys to the party account were Anna Zalewska, Daniel Obajtek, Beata Szydło, Bogdan Rzońca, Adam Bielan, Patryk Jaki and Karol Karski. Some of them also transferred smaller amounts to the party account.
Information in the register of payments should be posted without undue delay, but no later than 14 days from the date of receipt of payment. Therefore, it will take some time to see the effectiveness of PiS politicians' calls for payments to party accounts.
