Although Julia Szeremeta is already certain of winning an Olympic medal, it is still unknown where she will stand on the podium. All this means that Poland's achievements in Paris include four medals. One of them was a silver medal by Klaudia ZwoliĆska, three were bronze: Igi Swiatekthe women's epee team and the men's quadruple sculls.
This is how the medal table looks like. Poland's medal chances? The worst-case scenario is coming true
Anita WĆodarczyk was just a short distance away from winning the bronze medal on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the Polish hammer thrower finished fourth in final women's hammer throw. Poland ended another day without a puck, while other teams added more successes to their achievements.
All of this means that the Polish national team is still far behind in the medal standings. There are no surprises in the leader's position. The Americans are in the lead with 86 medals. They have the most gold medals – 24. China and Australia complete the podium, and the best European team so far is in a high fourth place.
It's the French. The hosts of the games have collected 48 medals so far. 13 of them were gold, 16 silver and 19 bronze. After Tuesday, August 6, Poland is in a distant 53rd place in the medal table. The white and reds are just behind Ethiopia and ahead of Turkey.
We can hope that on Wednesday, August 7, the medal count will be increased. All thanks to Aleksandra MirosĆaw, who is one of the favorites in sport climbing, and also the aforementioned Julia Szeremeta. The boxer will fight in the semi-final of her tournament on Wednesday – it will be known whether she will end it with a defeat and a bronze medal, or will have the honor of fighting for gold.
