Greer Fire fire, whose name refers to a small community in the White Mountains mountains in Arizona, broke out last Tuesday. From that moment, the fire has already taken over eight thousand hectares of land. According to the authorities and the services, the element is mastered in 38 percent, but the firefighting action is hindered by strong wind and dry conditions. A high, red degree of fire hazard applies in the region.
Fight against fire, evacuation of residents
Currently, over 700 firefighters take part in the firefighting operation. The Department of Forestry and Fire Management in Arizona wrote in social media that the fight against fire at the wind at a speed exceeding 60 kilometers per hour is “another test for firefighters”. On Saturday, the Governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, announced a state in Apache in the northeast of Arizona because of the spreading flames.
“My thoughts are with everyone who was injured by this destructive fire,” Hobbs wrote.
