Fatal hit in Gromoty (warmińsko-mazurskie voivodship). The driver of a passenger car, blinded by the sun, did not give way to an elderly man on a pedestrian crossing. The injured man was taken to the hospital where he died.
The accident happened on Monday (June 19) in Gromoty (Iława commune) a few minutes after 6 p.m. The police received a report of withholding man by car.
“A 26-year-old driving a Volkswagen on a straight stretch of road, on a hill, as a result of being blinded by the sun, did not give way to a pedestrian crossing the road, leading to a hit-off,” said senior aspirant Joanna Kwiatkowska from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Iława.

A resident of the Iława commune was transported to the hospital with injuries, where he died. Police officers under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office will now clarify the exact circumstances and causes of this tragic event.
“Once again, out of concern for the safety of road users, we call for compliance with traffic regulations, prudence, kindness and empathy on the road” – ordered staff officer Kwiatkowska.
