– I can only speak to the photo, but I hope he can hear me. I love him, I miss him, I can't live without him. I have not come to terms with Tomek's death and I never will. I don't believe he's dead – she says in “Uwaga!” TVN Mrs. Teresa Klemańska, mother of Tomasz Komenda.
Tomasz Komenda died on February 21 at the age of 46 after a long fight with cancer. In 2004, Komenda was wrongly sentenced to 25 years in prison for the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl. In mid-March 2018, he was released from prison on conditional terms and was released after 18 years. May 16, 2018 Supreme Court acquitted him. In 2021, the court awarded the Komenda a total of over PLN 12.8 million in compensation and compensation for the wrongful conviction and the years he spent in prison.
Tomasz Komenda's mother: I don't believe he is dead
With “Attention!” Mrs. Teresa Klemańska, mother of Tomasz Komenda, spoke to TVN. She talked about her fight to free her son, how she spent time with Tomasz after leaving prison, as well as about his last years of life and death.
– I'm not parting with this photo. This is a photo of when Tomek was very happy, when the two of us were very happy. He showed me how much he loved me, how he held me in his arms. Nobody can take that away from me. I can only speak to the photo, but I hope he can hear me. I love him, I miss him, I can't live without him. I have not come to terms with Tomek's death and I never will. I don't believe he's dead, said Mrs. Teresa, holding a photo of her son in her hand.
She said that one of the gifts from her son was a blanket, which now has a special meaning for her. – When I'm cold and feel sick, I cover myself with this blanket and say to him: “Tomasz, my legs are cold.” No one will believe it, but after a few seconds my legs are warm. I dream that something bad is about to happen. Then Tomek comes. I would prefer that he didn't dream about me, but that he would come and tell me that everything is fine, she said.
The “happiest” and “worst” moment in life
Mrs. Teresa admitted that her son's release from prison after 18 years was “the happiest moment of her life.” – I was happy that we would be a whole family, with our brothers and stepfather. (…) At first it was fantastic with the boys. They visited together, discussed together, played their matches together, it was really wonderful – she said.
Immediately after leaving prison, Tomasz Komenda enjoyed life to the fullest. He wanted to make up for the lost years, although it was not the easiest thing, because the world had completely changed since the day he was arrested. He seemed very happy. Together with the journalist “Attention!” TVN Grzegorz Głuszak, mother and stepfather he realized his dream and went to the Vatican.
– His dream really came true in the Vatican. We were very welcome there. We were the happiest there. It was wonderful, said Mrs. Teresa.
Tomasz Komenda also dreamed of starting a family. He decided to build a life with his partner Anna. He soon found out he was going to be a father. However, the relationship did not last very long. The couple separated, but Tomasz maintained contacts with his son Filip.
Today, Mrs. Teresa says that she is not ready for contact with her grandson. – It's not time yet. Someday, definitely yes, but not yet. I saw him when he was three months old. He will be four years old in November. It's not time for me yet, the pain would be too great – he explains.
At some point, Tomasz cut off contact with his mother and younger brothers. The only person from his family with whom he had closer contacts was his eldest brother. Mrs. Teresa, when asked if she had any grudge against her son, replied that she could only have one grudge: “that he left so quickly.” – I will never believe in Tomek's death. I don't want any money, I don't want anything, she said.
She admitted that two years without contact with Tomasz were “the worst of my life.”
“I need to know the contents of the will”
Tomasz died in February this year after a long illness. The ceremony, which was secular in nature, took place at one of the Wrocław cemeteries. He left a will in which neither his mother nor his younger brothers were included. Mrs. Teresa just wanted to know what her son's last will was. The application to acquire the inheritance was filed by the eldest brother, and the case is not public.
“As a mother who fought for years to acquit her son, for his good name and, above all, for his dignity, I wanted to read his last will written in his will. Unfortunately, I do not know its contents, and I would really like to find out “what was my son's last will,” Mrs. Teresa wrote in her application to the court.
– I need to know the content of the will. It's not about any money, I just don't believe that Tomek didn't turn to me, he didn't turn to his brothers, to his stepfather – admitted Mrs. Teresa.
– He could write that he hates us, I wouldn't feel sorry. It would really be easier for me. And how silent he was, how silent he was, he died so quietly, alone – she added.
– It wasn't supposed to look like this at all. This is my disgusting story about how I and my entire family lost Tomasz, said Mrs. Teresa.
