Tomasz Poręba resigned from the position of the head of the electoral staff of Law and Justice. The politician announced his decision via social media. Politicians commented on Poręba’s decision.
“After deep thought, guided by the good of the camp, yesterday I handed over to PJK (President of Jarosław Kaczyński – ed.) resignation from the function of PiS chief of staff, Tomasz Poręba announced on Friday evening.
The politician stressed that although “the resignation has not been accepted, it remains the final decision”. Today, in this position, someone with new emotion and energy is needed. Behind which he will become a wall,” he added.
Bochenek: Poręba’s resignation does not affect the continuity of the staff’s operation
PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek stated in an interview with the Polish Press Agency that “Tomasz Poręba’s resignation does not affect the continuity of the Law and Justice staff and the planned calendar of activities.” – We are determined to fight for victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections, and thus stop the return to power of those who destroyed and stole Poland, and today are trying to divide it by sowing hatred and negative emotions – he said. He thanked Tomasz Poręba “for the huge amount of work done within the PiS staff in recent months”.
Czarnecki: I think it will be developed for sure. There are new challenges
PiS MEP Richard Czarnecki he said in an interview with a TVN24 reporter that he “values Tomasz Poręba very much”. – You have to thank him for his work, for what he gave in this campaign, and I think he will definitely be developed. There are new challenges, this campaign will go on. I am an optimist and I believe that we will win this election – he said.
Gasiuk-Pihowicz: even the chief of staff knows that this ship is sinking
Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz from the Civic Coalition said on Saturday at a conference organized in front of the ruling party that “even the chief of staff seems to know that PiS will lose.” – How else to understand yesterday’s decision of Mr. Poręba to resign from his position? How can it be interpreted differently? she asked.
– I think even Mr. Poręba understood that PiS will not get far by baiting migrants and that this ship is sinking. He just tried to change to a lifeboat,” the MP said.
Biedroń: Poręba sees that he would lead PiS to defeat and runs away
Robert Biedron from the Left in an interview with a TVN24 reporter, he repeated the words of Gasiuk-Pihowicz that “this ship is sinking”, and “Tomasz Poręba, as the chief of staff, sees this and does not want to take responsibility for a lost cause”.
– No reset will help here. The king is naked, PiS has no idea for a campaign. Poręba, who is experienced, who led PiS to victories, when he sees that he would lead PiS to defeat, he simply runs away – commented Biedroń.
A clash in the power camp
On Monday, a former PiS spokesman, and now a social adviser to the president Andrzej Duda and vice-president of Ekstraklasa SA. Marcin Mastalerek criticized the PiS election team for “sleeping through some important moments”.
– If the staff has been operating since December, I hear, and he hasn’t invented (nothing) all these months, and he hasn’t heard that Donald Tusk for two months he has been shouting that he will march, and he had no counter-proposal, which means that he slept – said Mastalerek.
Another former spin doctor of the party, Adam Bielan, also spoke about the pre-election situation of the rulers. He stated that “it is a few days when the PO really got the initiative”. “I think we all know that we won’t win the 2023 election with our 2015 campaign,” he added.
In response to these comments, Tomasz Poręba posted jokes on Bielan and Mastalerek on Twitter. “PR expert: Adam Bielan, the author of the lost campaign of 2007, leaving PiS after the Smolensk catastrophe, the face of the downward ambiguity around the NCBR and ‘here I am’ Marcin Mastalerek. On the car of the last won PiS campaigns. Nice combo” – he wrote.
The entry of the chief of staff of the ruling party was commented on by Mastalerek: “Pride comes before a fall. This is exactly how the Civic Platform behaved in 2015.”
Bielan: I hope that the campaign will be led by someone who is up to the task
Bielan commented on Poręba’s resignation on Saturday in radio Trójka. – Election campaigns are a huge overload, a huge stress. Someone who observes it only from the outside, has never been in the staff, will not fully understand it – he said.
“We have a very difficult and very important finish ahead of us. In my opinion, these elections will be decided on the last straight. I hope that this campaign will be led by someone who is up to the task – added Bielan.
He announced that “Republicans will support anyone who runs this campaign.”
