Tomasz Sekielski appointed new editor-in-chief of “Newsweek”

Tomasz Sekielski will take the position of the editor-in-chief of “Newsweek” from July 1, announced Ringier Axel Springer Polska. Previously, this position was held by Tomasz Lis for 10 years.

“On July 1, 2022, Tomasz Sekielski will take the position of the editor-in-chief of” Newsweek “and as the head of all titles published under the Newsweek brand, he will be responsible for the Newsweek Polska weekly, Newsweek.pl and thematic editions of the weekly” – reported Ringier Axel Springer Polska.

It was also announced that Sekielski will be responsible for “the editorial policy of the weekly, website, thematic editions under the Newsweek brand, as well as for the development of new audio and video formats of the Newsweek brand.”

– I will have the pleasure of working with the best journalists in the country (…). I am convinced that we will develop and strengthen our position among the free and independent media in Poland “- commented the new editor-in-chief.

Journalist, co-author of documents on pedophilia

Tomasz Sekielski is a journalist with many years of experience. Currently, he is one of the hosts of the “Onet Rano” program. In the years 1997–2006 he was a reporter “TVN Facts”. He was also the host of the Friday releases of the program “Final touch“. From 2003, together with Andrzej Morozowski, he hosted the program” Kuluary “, the daily program” Prze translation “and” Teraz My! “. He also hosted a program on TVN24. “In black and white”.

He also collaborated with Radio Tok FM, TVP and TVP Info. He wrote for the weeklies “Newsweek” and “Wprost”. He is the co-author of the documentaries “Just do not tell anyone” and “Hiding fun” on pedophilia in the Catholic Church.

Tomasz Lis is no longer the editor-in-chief of “Newsweek”

On May 24, the management board of Ringier Axel Springer Polska announced that Tomasz Lis is no longer the editor-in-chief of “Newsweek”. No reason was given. He held this position for 10 years.
