The fatal accident at the rail-road crossing took place on Monday, May 1 near Tomaszów Mazowiecki. A woman and a 13-year-old child have died in a passenger car that collided with a train.
– Around 12.30 on the Brzustów-Tomaszów Mazowiecki railway route, on a single-track railway line, an incident occurred at a rail-road crossing equipped with signaling – informed Karol Jakubowski from the PKP PLK press team.
The spokesman added that the circumstances in which the collision occurred will be assessed by the commission.
The passengers of the car could not be saved
– An air ambulance landed at the scene. Unfortunately, despite the resuscitation of two people traveling by car, they could not be saved – said junior captain Hubert Rogata, press officer of the Poviat Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Tomaszów Mazowiecki.
A 44-year-old woman and a 13-year-old child died in the accident. He was pronounced dead at 1.35 pm.
There was no need to evacuate the train passengers, but until the end of the services’ activities, trains towards Łódź will not run on the track. A replacement bus service has been provided for travelers.
