The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into a tragic accident in Tomice near Góra Kalwaria, which resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man. The driver was charged with causing death in an accident, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

To a tragic accident happened on Monday, April 10. The driver of the BMW, while overtaking, left the road and hit a pole. Five people were traveling in the car. The driver left the scene. All passengers were taken to hospital where one of them died. It was a 20-year-old man.

Prosecutor Aleksandra Skrzyniarz, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, announced on Wednesday that the BMW driver, less than 20 years old, was arrested about an hour and a half after the accident at a nearby bus stop. Police officers breath tested him for alcohol. The breathalyser indicated over 0.7 per mille.

– In the course of the proceedings, the driver of a BMW car was charged with causing a fatal accident, driving while intoxicated, as well as fleeing the scene. The suspect confessed to committing the alleged act and made an explanation, prosecutor Skrzyniarz informed.

She also indicated that “due to the need to secure the course of the investigation, the prosecutor applied to the suspect for pre-trial detention”. – The court applied to Maciej Ś. libertarian preventive measures in the form of police supervision and a ban on leaving the country. The prosecutor’s office will appeal against the issued decision – Skrzyniarz announced.

The prosecutor also pointed out that the car was traveling by young people, all in their 20s. – A 20-year-old passenger died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. One passenger was injured for more than seven days. People traveling in this car were not wearing seatbelts, explained Skrzyniarz.
