Warm air has settled in Poland. According to IMWM spokesman Grzegorz Walijewski, it is possible that new temperature records will be broken. The forecasts for the northern regions are slightly different.
The warm, golden Polish autumn is coming back. On Saturday, record high temperatures in the south, up to 21-22 degrees, in the north it will be much colder and dangerous – said Grzegorz Walijewski, spokesman for the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management.
Warm south, cool north
The spokesman emphasized that there will be incredible temperature differences on Saturday. – In the south, 21-22 degrees from Lower Silesia to the Lublin region. In the center, from the Lubusz Voivodeship, to the southern part of the Podlaskie Voivodeship and the northern part of the Lublin Voivodeship, thermometers range from 15 to 18 degrees. However, in the north – in the Suwałki region 6-7 degrees, Warmia and masuria 7-8 degrees, Pomeranian Voivodeship from 8 to 9 degrees, at the seaside from 10 to 12 degrees. And there will be light rain in these regions, he said.
There will be a lot of rain, because, for example, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship it will fall up to 30 liters per square meter and there may be lightning discharges. – Additionally, there will be strong winds here, with gusts of up to 85 km/h on the coast. In the mountains, even above 100 km/h – he warned.
– In the north of the province from West Pomerania to Podlasie – unpleasant, windy, rainy, not very warm and dangerous due to strong wind gusts. However, in the south – it’s wonderful, just go there and enjoy this influx of summer weather – said Walijewski.
He explained that never before had the temperature in Poland been as high on October 21 as the one forecast for Saturday. – I won’t be surprised if temperature records are broken, but only for this specific day. Because the record from October 3, when in Legnica it was 29.3 degrees. He is absolutely not at risk, the forecaster noted.
– On Sunday, warm air will begin to settle strongly in Poland, but it will transform and it will no longer be above 20 degrees. There will be values above 10 degrees all over the country and that is positive. Even in the Suwałki region it will be 12 degrees. Anywhere from 12 to 17 degrees, with higher values will be in the south, he explained.
The return of the golden Polish autumn
He emphasized that the warm, Polish golden autumn is returning. – This is what the weather will be like in the next few days. In the north, from 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, and in the south, 17-18 degrees. It will be the same all the time, except that weather fronts will pass through and rain will fall from time to time, for example on Wednesday and Thursday, he said.
Walijewski jokingly summed up that in the south this Saturday you can take out shorts from the wardrobe, and in the north a down jacket will come in handy.
