Travel agencies served more customers than in the previous year and exceeded the result from the record-breaking 2019 – reports “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” in its Thursday edition.

From January to June, travel agencies in Poland recorded almost 4.5 million customers, compared to 4.13 million a year ago – according to data prepared for “DGP” by the Insurance Guarantee Fund. “Everything indicates that this year will be a record year for outbound tourism. The last such year was 2019, when agencies served 4.18 million customers. This also translated into concluded contracts. This year, there are already over 1.55 million of them, compared to 1.44 million in 2023 and 1.39 million in 2019,” it was calculated. Over 40 percent of holiday offers were sold in the first minute formula.

The great return of Poles to travel agencies

Rainbow Tour summed up that its sales revenues in the first half of the year increased by over 25 percent – to almost PLN 1.65 million. Itaka is also selling above expectations. In 2023, it had 1 million customers in Poland, and counting other markets – over 1.4 million. This year, it expects over 1.5 million customers. According to experts quoted by “DGP” customers are also returning to offices for another reason – safety. Their money is protected in case the organizer goes bankrupt.

The Tourist Guarantee Fund already has almost PLN 400 million in its account, PLN 100 million more than a year ago. In addition, they can count on help in the event of unforeseen events, such as fires, which regularly occur in many countries. The influx of customers to offices translates into the market. New offices are being established. In June, there were already over 5 thousand of them. A year ago at this time, there were less than 4.8 thousand operating – informed “DGP”.
