A new sinkhole opened up on Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, after the Malaysian capital was hit by a storm with heavy rainfall.

The hole in the ground was created just 50 meters from the place where the explosion occurred on Friday. there was a serious accident. The pavement collapsed under the feet of a tourist from India. The woman fell underground, and despite the ongoing rescue operation, she has not yet been found. Rescuers are searching not only the area around the sinkhole, but also the sewage system – a hole in a sewage pipe was noticed where the woman fell, which means that she could have fallen into it.

Kuala Lumpur authorities closed the street to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Wednesday. Ground strength tests were underway, but the cause of the sinkholes had not yet been determined.

In an interview with The Straits Times, Jeffrey Chiang Choong Luin of the Malaysian Engineers Association said the proximity of the first and second sinkholes indicated a connection. He said there could be a broken utility pipe underground, leaking water. If the water seeps into the soil, it could cause erosion and subsidence.
