On Friday, the Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar shared on social media information from the National Prosecutor's Office on the continuation and transfer to another unit of three investigations concerning accident on the A1 in which a family of three died.
“The prosecutor's office returns to the investigation into the circumstances accident on the A1 involving Sebastian M. Regardless, actions regarding extradition from the UAE are continuing. I thank Radek Sikorski for his cooperation,” the Minister of Justice wrote on Platform X.

The spokeswoman for the National Prosecutor’s Office, Anna Adamiak, announced that the Department of Preparatory Proceedings of the National Prosecutor’s Office conducted an examination of three proceedings concerning the circumstances of the incident of September 16, 2023.
It's about investigations conducted in Piotrków Trybunalski against Sebastian M. and proceedings in Płock regarding making false statements and Warsaw regarding the officer exceeding his authority. The District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw announced that it had discontinued the latter investigation, finding that the actions of the police officers did not constitute a prohibited act.
– The findings made indicate the need to immediately supplement the evidence in these cases in order to clarify the important circumstances of the event – Adamiak emphasized. She added that the National Prosecutor Darius Korneluk taking into account the good of the proceedings, decided to transfer the files of these cases to the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowicein order to designate subordinate units of the District Prosecutor’s Office for further conduct.

Sebastian M., whose extradition to Poland is to be discussed by ministers, is suspected of causing the massacre in September last year accident on the A1 motorway, in which a family of three died. The driver was not arrested and he managed to escape to the United Arab Emirates, where – according to media reports – he recently received a so-called golden visa, giving him resident status. The authorities of this country have not considered the Polish extradition request for over a year.
According to Polish diplomatic sources, there are signals from the UAE that the problem may be too low qualification of the act accepted by the prosecutor's office. The man is to be charged with causing a fatal accident. As sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs point out, the so-called golden visa is not the same as Polish citizenship and in no way blocks extradition. “We are still working on this matter,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
