American actor Treat Williams has died after his motorcycle collided with a car, his agent said. The star of the popular, especially at the turn of the 70s and 80s, musical “Hair” was 71 years old.

Information about Williams’ death was confirmed by his longtime agent Barry McPherson in an interview with People.com on Monday, May 12, in the evening. – He died in the afternoon. He was turning left or right and a car ran into him. I’m broken. He was a great and talented guy,” McPherson said.

On the same day, Vermont police said the accident that killed the 71-year-old actor happened near the town of Dorset. Williams was the only person injured in the incident. The services transported him by helicopter to a hospital in neighboring New York state, but doctors failed to save his life.

Treat Williams – who was he?

Williams made his big screen debut in 1975 in the thriller Deadly Hero. He gained wide recognition four years later after appearing in “Hair”, the famous hippie musical directed by Miloš Forman. Williams received his first Golden Globe Award nomination for his role as the pacifist George Berger. in 1981’s The Prince of the Great City, and in the 1980s, Williams starred in several more films that quickly became hits, including A Streetcar Named Desire and Once Upon a Time in America.

The actor has also appeared in several popular series. In the years 2002-2006 he played one of the main roles in “Everwood”, later he played in productions such as “Law and Order”, “White Collar” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”.

Williams has been married to dancer and actress Pam Van Sant since 1988. They had two children with her: son Gil, born in 1992, and daughter Elinor, six years younger.
