The President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelanski announced that he would wait for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Turkey on Thursday. He added that he expected a weapon from Russia. Earlier, US President Donald Trump appealed for a meeting of leaders on the Truth Social platform.

Wołodymyr Zelnski, the president of Ukraine, wrote on platform X that he expected a full and permanent suspension of weapons from Russia from May 12. This is to be “a necessary basis for diplomacy”.
“There is no point in prolonging killing,” added Zelanski. “I will be waiting for Putin in Turkey on Thursday. Personally. I hope that this time the Russians will not look for excuses,” he announced.
Appeal for a meeting
President USA Donald Trump previously posted an entry on Sunday on the Truth Social portal, in which he referred to potential peace conversations regarding the war in Ukraine.
“Russian President Putin does not want an agreement on the suspension of weapons with Ukraine, he rather wants to meet on Thursday in Turkey to negotiate the possible end of this bloodshed” – wrote Trump. He added that Ukraine “should agree immediately”.
According to Trump, Ukraine will then “at least determine if the agreement is possible”. “If not, European leaders and the United States will know what they are standing on and will be able to act in accordance with this,” he said.
“I am starting to doubt that Ukraine will conclude an agreement with Putin, who is too busy with celebrating victory in World War II, which could not be won (it was not even close!) Without the United States of America,” Trump wrote in the post. Finally, he appealed: “Organize a meeting, now !!!”.
Talking proposal and attack
On Saturday, the leaders of Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany and Great Britain called Russia for an unconditional acceptance of a 30-day suspension of weapons, threatening to impose sanctions on Moscow. Putin responded with a counterprotion of the beginning of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on Thursday in Turkey.
Putin's adviser on foreign Yuri Ruszakov stated that negotiations should take into account the “situation on the front” and their starting point would be a return to the interrupted negotiations from autumn 2022.
A few hours later, as Reuters reported, it happened to attack Russian drones on Kyiv.
