The President of Russia “does not honor the good will of the President of the United States – said Janusz Reiter, former Polish ambassador to Germany and the USA. Anna Maria Dyner, an analyst of the Polish Institute of International Affairs, talked about Trump's “irritation” and “sharpening rhetoric of Russians”.
Key facts:
- On Thursday, Donald Trump talked by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
- The US president said that he failed to achieve any progress in terms of war in Ukraine and is not satisfied with it.
- After a conversation of leaders, the Kremlin declared that Russia would prefer to achieve its goals in Ukraine by diplomacy, but it would not stop the “special military operation”.
- Trump-Putin talked about the conversation “Conversations at the top” on TVN24 + Jacek Stawiski and Marcin Wrona
After the president's conversation USA with Putin, Trump also talked to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelnski. – It was probably the best, most productive conversation we had – said Zelanski. He also assessed the discussion well in an interview with journalists Trump.
In the background of the ongoing negotiations, Russian attacks on Ukraine. At night from Thursday to Friday it was a massive attack on Kyiv. As a result, he suffered, among others The building of the Consular Department of the Polish embassy.
“Putin does not honor his good will”
Anna Maria Dyner, analyst of the Polish Institute of International Affairs and Janusz Reiter, talked about conversations on the end of the war in Ukraine in “Facts after Facts” on TVN24 and the former Polish Ambassador in Germany and the United States.
Guests of “Facts after Facts” were asked, among others For possible scenarios for Ukraine for the coming weeks. Reiter said that there is only one in which “America will cause strong pressure on Putin.” – Donald Trump From time to time, he declares that military assistance and help for Ukraine will be either maintained or even increased, but what he has not done so far – he noted and added that “perhaps President Trump finally can be convinced that sanctions (for Russia – ed.) are absolutely necessary.”
– So far President Putin does not honor his (Trump – ed.) Goodwill, his patience. I hope that (Trump – ed.) Will sharpen the course – emphasized the former ambassador.
In turn, Dyner drew attention to the decision of the Trump administration on suspending the transmission of parts of the missiles to Ukraine. – If these deliveries are still suspended, then of course the Russians will use it. They will attack Ukraine from the air, so that these Ukrainian supplies will end as soon as possible. For now, the Ukrainian state has, but they are not enough for long. This psychologically affects Ukrainian society, and we are constantly observing that the actions on the front are ongoing and Russia After all, he is in a delicate offensive – she commented.
“Russians tighten their rhetoric”
The analyst of the Polish Institute of International Affairs also assessed that in terms of negotiations on the end of the war, “we are exactly at the very beginning”. – We are in March 2022, because in principle nothing has changed. I would even say that somewhat Russians exacerbate their rhetoric and threaten that if, what they presented in Istanbul during the last negotiations will not be realized and accepted by Ukraine and Western countries (…) they will still sharpen these demands, “said Dyner.
Referring to Putin's Thursday conversation with Trump, she stated that the US president was “annoyed by the leader of Russia for the first time. – And probably for the first time he realized that since Putin once again, and this was their sixth conversation since the beginning of this term of Donald Trump, he talks about the premises of the war in Ukraine and the policy of Western countries, the sign of this Putin does not really want any compromise, “said Dyner.
Asked if Putin disregarded Trump, she replied that “it is probably not very ostentatious, but it is all the time attempted to show that Russia is an equal partner for the United States.”

“Trump cannot disregard this”
The former ambassador noted that the US president is “annoyed” by the free progress of negotiations in the case of Ukraine, but “has not yet drawn from this consequences.”
– Many people in America do not believe that Ukraine can win this conflict. They believe that America should lead to the end of this war and propose something Russia to make this business in the end of this war. President Trump is not even trying so far – said Reiter.
In his opinion, Trump “cannot simply turn his back to Ukraine.” – This is too serious a world problem. It is about world order, it is about the balance of power, it is also about his and America authority. Trump cannot disregard this – he argued and added: Trump and America has no interest in the Russians just win this war. Because Ukrainians, however, absorb a lot of Russian forces.
Trump's budget act. “He convinced some and forced others”
Donald Trump signed a budget act implementing his tax election promises. “One big beautiful act” combines tax cuts with cuts of social expenditure and simultaneously increasing funds for migrants' deportation. Experts predict that the best -paid Americans will gain on the new law. According to the analysis of the Congress Budget Bureau (CBO), despite the assumed cuts, the project will contribute to increasing the deficits in the budget by $ 3.8 trillion in 10 years.
The project was criticized by both republican “budget hawks”, demanding deeper cuts of expenses and a smaller deficit, as well as headquarters, concerned about cuts in social programs.
Reiter pointed out that despite this, Trump managed to get a majority for the adoption of the law. – I think that what is probably the most important thing is that he has overcome so many resistance. And he convinced some, and forced others to accept this project – said the former ambassador.
At the same time, he pointed out that the criticism of the budget act “comes from two sides”. – Some associated with Trump that he would limit his debt. It is not like that. And the second criticism comes from those who are afraid of the social effects of this law – he noted.
