The driver of the Intercity train did not stop at the “stop” signal in Trzebinia and entered the track on which another train was moving from the opposite direction. Only later did he use the radio “stop” signal, stopping his train and the one coming from the opposite direction. The Commission is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

We received information about the incident on Kontakt 24. As Karol Jakubowski, spokesman for Polskie Linie Kolejowe, reported, the incident occurred at 4 p.m. near the Trzebinia station. – Train driver PKP The Intercity on the Żary-Lublin route, leaving the station, did not stop at the semaphore indicating the “stop” signal – he reported. – The driver then used the radio “stop” signal, stopping his train and the train coming from the opposite direction – he added.

A commission is working on site to determine the detailed circumstances of the incident. – We want to restore train traffic on this section of the route as soon as possible – the spokesman noted.

According to police data, 600 and 390 passengers were travelling on the trains. No one was hurt. The police also reported that the drivers and train crew were sober. As reported by Deputy Commissioner Iwona Szelichowicz, the route between Kraków and Trzebinia was blocked until around 7 p.m.
