Police officers from Sokołów Małopolski (Podkarpackie Voivodeship) detained a 61-year-old man who drowned eight puppies. According to the police, he put them in a bag and threw them into the pond. The man was charged with killing animals with particular cruelty, for which he faces up to five years in prison. He confessed to everything.

According to the Podkarpacie police, the incident took place in mid-August in the village of Trzeboś in the Rzeszów poviat. A 23-year-old man came to his plot of land, where he has a small fish pond. Suddenly he noticed a bag floating in the water. After fishing out, he found eight dead puppies inside. He called the emergency number 112, and the dispatcher notified the officer on duty at the Rzeszów police station.

They determined the address. There was a female dog in the yard that had given birth earlier

Police officers arrived at the scene, secured the dead animals and conducted an inspection. They asked for details, and based on the directions – together with the veterinarian – they went to the agreed address.

In the yard next to the house, they noticed a dog tied with a chain to a kennel.

– According to the veterinarian, the mixed-breed bitch gave birth in no more than two weeks. Moreover, she had food to feed the young ones – reports staff midshipman Magdalena Żuk, spokesman for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Rzeszów.

61-year-old man charged

The dog’s 61-year-old owner was arrested a day later. The police interrogated the man and charged him with killing eight mixed-breed puppies with particular cruelty. The suspect pleaded guilty.

The case was handled by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Rzeszów. The court will decide on the further fate of the suspect.
