28 died in an accident on the road connecting Tanzania with Zambia at night from Saturday to Sunday. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit several other cars on the steep section of the road running through the Iwambi Hill.

– In a difficult terrain, a truck driver filled with grain did not control the vehicle and hit several other cars, knocking one to the Mbaliza river flowing below – said the head of the local police Benjamin Kuzaga, during a press conference organized on Sunday at the scene of the accident.
Kuzaga simply accused the driver of the troar.
14 men, 10 women and four children were killed among. Eight people were injured. The truck driver with broken legs was hospitalized.
Another accident on the Iwambi hill
The Iwambi Hill has a very bad reputation among people traveling by car from Zambia to Tanzania. The road is narrow and very steep. In September 2023, an accident occurred almost in the same place, as a result of which nine people were killed and more than 20 were hospitalized. The 2018 accident had even worse effects, when 20 people were killed and over 40 were injured.
The accident shocked the inhabitants of Tanzania, the president of the country Samia Sululuh Hassan also referred to him, who made condolences to everyone who lost their loved ones in him. She also called drivers to be vigilant on the road.
