Four people were killed and at least 19 were injured as a result of the storm that hit Istanbul and the surrounding area on Monday. The wind was so strong that it overturned trucks and ripped off roofs, the clock tower collapsed.

Among the four fatalities is a woman who fell on debris from a building damaged by a storm. Her child suffered minor injuries. Three people out of a total of 19 injured are in critical condition, the authorities said.

In gusts it was blowing at a speed of 130 kilometers per hour, the Turkish meteorological institute said. The wind ripped off the roofs and advertising banners. Trucks overturned on one of the highways, blocking traffic.
