A Turkish animal lover, inspired by her paralyzed father, built a train out of plastic barrels to transport disabled dogs from a shelter near the country's capital, Ankara.

Buket Ozgunlu, president of the Paws Holding Life Association, attached makeshift wagons to an all-terrain vehicle to take disabled dogs for a daily walk.

The woman claims that her students, just like people, need a change of environment, and if they cannot walk, a ride will be enough. Ozgunlu explains that her paralyzed father inspired her idea for a dog train.

She rescued animals “from the arms of death”

“We felt the need to get him out and let him travel,” she said. – Then I said that our dogs can't see anything, they must want it too, because disabled people experience greater trauma and feel different intensity of emotions – she added.

The association's president told Reuters reporters that the shelter had 560 dogs rescued from the streets, including 300 that were suffering physically. – I can say that we rescued them all from the arms of death – he emphasizes.

Ozgunlu and other shelter workers painted plastic barrels in bright colors – now they plan to install a tarp to provide the animals with more shade.
