Attack on the Turkish opposition
According to Western agencies, detention agencies are another attack on the Turkish opposition. Critics believe that the government, by detaining opposition representatives, wants to discredit the CHP and the mayor of Istanbul, the Imamogle, which could stand up to the future fight for the chair of the president of the country.
Imamogle accuses the government of trying to use the judiciary as a political tool to exert pressure on the opposition. The authorities ensure that the judiciary is independent.
The election calendar shows that the next presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey will take place in 2028. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in accordance with the constitution, cannot apply for re -election. However, there are voices that the authorities may strive to make a change in the constitution, which would allow Erdogan to further rule.
