Tusk: 50,000 people signed up for citizen control of elections

The leader of the Civic Coalition, Donald Tusk, announced on Saturday on social media that 50,000 people have already signed up for the civic election control campaign. “They will not steal our democracy. Now we just need to vote them out,” he added.

The “I watch the elections” campaign, promoted by politicians of the Civic Coalition, involves citizens getting involved in the work of district electoral commissions during the next parliamentary elections.

Elections to the Sejm and Senate will be carried out on October 15. On that day, Polish citizens eligible to vote will elect 460 deputies and 100 senators for a four-year term. A district electoral commission is established in each district. The duties of the members of this commission include: conducting voting in the precinct, ensuring on election day that electoral law is observed at the place and time of voting, determining the results of voting in the precinct and making them public, and sending the voting results to the appropriate electoral commission.
