Telewizja Polska had a list of films banned for political reasons, “Gazeta Wyborcza” reported. The list to be created by the TVP presidents included, among others, films by Agnieszka Holland, Krystyna Janda and Jerzy Stuhr.

As “Gazeta Wyborcza” writes, while “cleaning up after their predecessors”, the new television authorities discovered a list of films whose previous presidents – Jacek Kurski and Mateusz Matyszkowicz – they did not allow it to be shown on TVP channels. – TVP has the rights to all of them and can show them, but there was a political order not to play them – says a source in the film editorial office of “GW”.

List of films banned on TVP:

– “Citizen Jones” Agnieszka Holland– “Pestka” by Krystyna Janda, – “My Mother’s Lovers” by Radosław Piwowarski, – “Man of Iron” and “Man of Marble” by Andrzej Wajda, – “80 Million” by Waldemar Krzystek, – “Big Animal” and “Citizen” by Jerzy Stuhr, – “Pokłosie” by Władysław Pasikowski, – “Fuks” by Maciej Dutkiewicz, – “Zieja” by Robert Gliński, – “Good morning, I love you” by Ryszard Zatorski, – “Friendship without borders” by Sebastian Schipper, – “Fun, fun” by Kinga Dębska, – “Skłodowska” by Marjane Satrapi, – “Father Outlaw” by Ken Scott, – “Simply Friendship” by Filip Zylber.

Films with opponents of the PiS government banned. “Kind of a refined compliment.”

Agnieszka Holland, who openly opposed the government’s actions PIS, became an enemy of the former government. – In the film editorial office they heard from the bosses that the film should not be released because of Agnieszka Holland – one of the new directors at TVP told “Wyborcza”.

The director herself, commenting in an interview with “Wyborcza” on the decision of the former TVP authorities, said that it was “disgusting personal censorship”. – Nothing surprises me when it comes to TVP during the PiS era. All boundaries of law and decency have been exceeded.

“Pestka” and “Mommy’s Lovers” – we read in “GW” – “could not be broadcast on TVP because they starred Krystyna Janda”, also an opponent of the PiS government.

It is similar in the case of Jerzy and Maciej Stuhr, who starred in four films from the list – “Big Animal”, “Citizen”, “Fuks” and “Pokłosie”. – It does not surprise me. In a sense, it is a very refined compliment, Maciej Stuhr told the daily.

The film “Zieja” by Robert Gliński was included on the list because – writes “GW” – Andrzej Seweryn starred in it. – No comment! These 7.5 million voters who voted for PiS and are governed by this need to be informed about it as soon as possible Jarosław Kaczyński they responded – commented the actor.

The list also includes “Good Morning, I Love You” by Ryszard Zatorski. This is because – the newspaper claims – that Barbara Kurdej-Szatan played the main role.

Andrzej Wajda’s films were also banned – “Man of Iron”, about… Lech Wałęsa and “Man of Marble”, where Janda played. The film “80 million” was shelved because – we read – “it stars Józef Pinior as one of the characters. And he is Kaczyński’s enemy.”

“Friendship Without Borders” – according to “GW” information – was not shown because it was about “friendship with a black immigrant”, and “Fun, Fun” – a film about women abusing alcohol – because it contained a reference to PiS MP Elżbieta Kruk .

“Skłodowska”, according to the heads of TVP, was supposed to present the Polish Nobel Prize winner as a “scandal”, and “Kapany Father” was dropped because it talked about in vitro. Same with the movie “Just Friendship”.

We asked TVP whether such a list actually existed, what were the criteria for selecting banned films and who made the decision on this matter. We are waiting for answer.
