Iga Świątek (1. WTA) is having another great season. She has already won 50 matches, which has translated into five tournament wins, including her beloved Roland Garros. However, she didn't do too well at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, where she was eliminated in the third round. After winning the bronze medal, the 23-year-old played in Cincinnati. There, she had to give in to Aryna Sabalenka. “Aryna simply played better that day. I had my chances and opportunities to put pressure on her in this match. However, I made too many mistakes,” she explained.

Who will win the US Open? Tracy Austin responded. No word on Świątek

Now, the Pole will have a chance to win her second US Open title. She first triumphed on New York courts in 2022, defeating Ons Jabeur in the final. Currently, Świątek is also considered one of the favorites, as recently calculated by the Sportskeeda portal. “Iga Świątek comes to New York with an impressive 50-6 record and is the overwhelming favorite for the title. This year she has already won titles in Qatar, Indian Wells, Madrid, Rome and Paris,” we read. However, she is ahead of the aforementioned Belarusian, who is in great form.

Tracy Austin also spoke about the future winner of the US Open. One of the legends of American tennis said which players, in her opinion, are “having the summer of their lives” and could reach for the title. The 61-year-old also put Sabalenka's name at the top of her list. At the same time, she does not disregard other tennis players. She appreciated, among others, the form of Paula Badosa (27th WTA), who used to be among the world's top.

– She was the world number 2. She's back in the game because she's doing so well on the court – Austin told SiriusXM during one of the shows before the US Open. The former tennis player also praised her compatriot Danielle Collins (11th WTA) for her recent results. – I think she's the type of player who's going to seize the moment. At the beginning of the year she was outside the top 50, now she's in the top 10, she's just riding on the emotions. Who knows how she'll play here at the US Open, but if she can win a few matches and get the crowd's support, she could go really far – she added.

Among the favorites to win the last Grand Slam tournament of the year according to Tracy Austin is also Amanda Anisimova (49th WTA). The 22-year-old did great in Toronto, where she beat higher-ranked players. She only lost to Jessica Pegula (6th WTA) in the final. – She beat Kasatkina, Sabalenka, beat Navarro, played three sets with Pegula and I think she is someone that no one wants to see in their lineup – the expert gushed.

While listing the next tennis players, Tracy Austin… left out Iga Świątek. Apparently, in the American's opinion, the current leader of the WTA rankings does not have a great chance of triumphing. The tournament will start on Monday, August 26 and will last until September 8. Interestingly, the Polish woman has already had the opportunity to appear on the court in New York.
