Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, said his platform applied temporary post reading limits to address “extreme levels” of data collection and system manipulation. He added that this “temporary emergency measure” is in response to what he claims are “extremely aggressive” actions by hundreds of organizations collecting data from Twitter against the intentions of its users.

Verified owners can read up to 6,000 posts a day, Musk said. He added that owners of unverified accounts and setting up new unverified accounts are limited to reading 600 and 300 posts per day, respectively.

He later added that these limits “soon” will change – users of verified accounts will be able to read up to 8,000 posts per day, unverified – up to 800, new unverified – up to 400.

Musk’s decision, which he called a “temporary emergency measure,” comes in response to what he says are “extremely aggressive” actions by hundreds of organizations collecting data from Twitter against its users’ intentions.

Musk has previously expressed dissatisfaction with AI companies like OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, for using Twitter data for their own purposes.
