Elon Musk and Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino on Monday unveiled the platform’s new logo. It’s a white X on a black background that has replaced the blue bird. The earlier Twitter logo was designed in 2012. There is also a new domain.

Elon Musk announced that “we will soon say goodbye to the Twitter brand and, gradually, to all birds”, referring to the current symbol of the social platform. The change became a reality on Monday. The new logo also appeared on the building where the company’s headquarters is located.

The hashtags #GoodbyeTwitter and #TwitterX have become trending on the social networking site.

The earlier Twitter logo was designed in 2012 by a team of three. “The logo has been designed to be simple, balanced and legible at a very small size, almost like a lowercase e,” Martin Grasser, one of the designers, tweeted. “Today we bid farewell to this wonderful blue bird,” he added.

Reuters recalled that just weeks before finalizing its purchase of Twitter last year, Elon Musk said the deal would accelerate his ambitious goal of creating a “super app” called “X” by three to five years.

Earlier, in 2017, Musk bought the x.com domain from PayPal, indicating that it had “sentimental value” for him. The billionaire co-founded x.com, an online bank founded in 1999 that later became PayPal.

Currently, after entering the x.com address, we are transferred to the Twitter social network.
