Jacek Sutryk's defense attorney filed two complaints against the actions of the prosecutor's office in connection with the detention of the mayor of Wrocław and the application of preventive measures against him. On November 15, the Mayor of Wrocław was charged with four charges in connection with the Collegium Humanum scandal.

The mayor of Wrocław, Jacek Sutryk, was detained by CBA November 14 in the morning. After several hours of interrogation, the next day he was charged with providing a financial benefit to the former rector of Collegium Humanum, Paweł C., for obtaining a diploma from this university, as well as using an illegally obtained document and thus extorting PLN 230,000.

– In connection with the case of Mr. Jacek Sutryk, the president of Wrocław, two complaints were submitted to the District Court in Katowice through the prosecutor's office, of course. These complaints concern the detention and the decision to apply preventive measures – said Sutryk's defense attorney, prof. Ph.D. Łukasz Błaszczak.

Detentions in connection with the Collegium Humanum scandal

The complaints were filed last week. According to the defense attorney, Jacek Sutryk could have been summoned to action instead of being detained. The defense does not agree with the preventive measures used – Sutryk was given a PLN 200,000 bail, police supervision and a ban on contact with the indicated persons.

The Collegium Humanum case concerns irregularities at this private university. So far, the CBA has detained about 30 people – including former rector of Collegium Humanum Paweł C. and former MEP Ryszard C.

A total of 150 charges were brought against the detainees (most of which were against Paweł C.). Collegium Humanum is currently called Varsovia University of Business and Applied Sciences. The private university was established in 2018 in Warsaw. It offered much faster and cheaper courses compared to its competitors, thanks to which it was possible to obtain an MBA diploma. Such diplomas allow, among others: to apply for positions on supervisory boards of State Treasury companies.
