Two contracts for the construction of the S16 route in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and a fragment of the S17 in the Lubelskie Voivodeship

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways signed contracts for the construction of a section of the S16 route in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and a section of the S17 in the Lublin Voivodeship. Since the beginning of the year, GDDKiA has signed 31 contracts for the construction of 400 kilometers of roads for over PLN 15 billion, said Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak on Friday.

– The agreements signed on Friday are the 30th and 31st, respectively, concluded this year. The total length of expressways and bypasses that will be built as a result of signing these agreements will exceed 400 km. The value of these contracts is over PLN 15 billion, said the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

S16 Olsztyn – Barczewo

The first of the signed contracts concerns the construction of an over 11-kilometer section of the S16 route. The investment, valued at over PLN 507 million, will be implemented by Budimex. The implementation time is 38 months.

As she said GDDKiAthe existing DK16 will be adapted to S class parameters thanks to the addition of a second road and reconstruction of the structure of some of its fragments. Additional roads will also be built to service the adjacent areas.

New Wójtowo and Łęgajny road junctions will be built, while the Barczewo junction will be adapted to the parameters of the expressway.

The contractor of the section will make maximum use of reclaimed asphalt obtained from the demolition of the existing DK16 and will re-integrate it into the new surface, while maintaining high quality parameters. Drivers should use the new route in 2028.

New episode of S17

The second contract concluded on Friday concerns another section of the S17 expressway. The design and construction of over 16 km of the route from the Piaski Wschód junction to Łopiennik will be carried out by a consortium of Aldesa Construcciones Polska (leader) and Aldesa Construcciones. The value of the signed contract is almost PLN 810 million, and the implementation time is set at 41 months.

The section of the expressway will follow a new route, along the current national road No. 17. It will start at the Piaski Wschód junction (connection with the S12 expressway), which will be expanded, and will end near Łopiennik Nadrzeczny.

In addition to the main route, roads will be built to handle local traffic and engineering structures, including two flyovers over the Giełczewka and Marianka rivers. Three more junctions are also to be built: Piaski Południe, Fajsławice and Łopiennik.
