Police officers from Kępno (Greater Poland Voivodeship) detained two drunk drivers on Sunday evening. The Polish Press Agency determined that both are local government politicians.
The information about the detention of two drivers under the influence of alcohol was confirmed by junior asp. Filip Ślęk from the press office of the Kępno police. The first man was arrested Sunday afternoon. 19 on ul. Rakowiecka in Łęka Opatowska near Kępno. The police stopped a Fiat car driven by a 54-year-old resident of Opatów.
– During the inspection, it was found that the driver was intoxicated. The breathalyser test showed 1.95 per mille of alcohol in the body – said the policeman.
According to PAP, Adam K., the mayor of the Łęka Opatowska commune, was arrested for sobering up. After sobering up, he is to hear the prosecutor’s charges of driving while intoxicated, which is punishable by up to 2 years in prison.
Detained after harvest
On the same evening at approx. 23 in Kępno at ul. Staszic, another intoxicated driver was arrested, who turned out to be 63-year-old Eugeniusz P., chairman of the city council in Kępno.
– The driver of a Volkswagen vehicle hit another parked vehicle. Upon arrival at the scene, the driver was found to be intoxicated. He had over 3 per mille of alcohol in his body – informed junior asp. Ślęk.
The man is currently in police custody in Kalisz and is awaiting charges. Harvest festivals were held in Kępno on Sunday. The two-day harvest festival also took place in the Łęka Opatowska commune. The inhabitants of Słupia near Kępno celebrated the 850th anniversary of the town.
