Two officers of the Military Police, with the rank of colonel and lieutenant colonel, were detained on the order of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, Szymon Banna, spokesman for this prosecutor’s office, told PAP. Both were suspended from their duties. They are suspected of exceeding their powers, as is the third officer with the rank of major, who, however, was not arrested.
On Thursday, the spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, prosecutor Szymon Banna, confirmed to the Polish Press Agency that two soldiers of the Military Police were detained on the order of this prosecutor’s office: Colonel Robert M. and Lieutenant Colonel Marcin M.
Col. Robert M. – as previously reported by RMF FM – is the commander of the Krakow branch of the Military Police. Lt. Col. Marcin M. is also an officer of this unit. Prosecutor Banna also announced that in addition to the detained soldiers, Major Tomasz W. is also a suspect in the same case, but he has not been detained.
Prosecutor’s office: suspected of exceeding powers
– Both detained Military Police officers are suspected of exceeding their powers in order to obtain benefits and disclosing, contrary to the law, information they had in connection with their functions. Major W. was also charged with exceeding his powers, said the spokesman for the Warsaw prosecutor’s office.
He also announced that the suspects had been suspended from their duties. – Due to ongoing activities, it is not possible to provide more detailed information on this case at this time – said the prosecutor.
