A two-year-old woman has died after falling from a pony throughout a hunt assembly, police have stated.

The toddler fell on Wednesday morning whereas driving with members of The Bedale Hunt on land in a village close to Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

On Saturday, officers confirmed the woman had died in hospital within the early hours of Thursday. Occasion officers stated members of the hunt had been left “devastated” and have been supporting her household.

A Bedale Hunt spokesperson stated: “We will verify {that a} tragic accident occurred on Wednesday, 15 September, when a two-year-old woman fell from her pony and subsequently misplaced her life.

“As a neighborhood we’re all fully devastated however are pulling collectively to help the household concerned.

“Our honest condolences go to all these affected and we urge that everyone respects the household’s privateness throughout what’s a really distressing time.”

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman stated: “Police are compiling a report on behalf of the coroner following the tragic demise of a two-year-old woman who was concerned in a horse riding-related incident on land at Kirkby Fleetham, close to Northallerton.

“It occurred at round 8am on Wednesday and the woman died at hospital through the early hours of Thursday.

“The woman’s household are receiving specialist help whereas enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

“Police request that the household’s privateness is revered at this very tough time.”
