The police are looking for perpetrators of bee poisoning in the area of the town of Tworzymirki (Greater Poland Voivodeship). Someone killed 21 bee colonies there, which is – according to the officials – about 420,000 insects. Some of the hives were sealed with mounting foam.
On Saturday, unknown perpetrators poisoned nearly 420,000 bees from the apiary in Tworzymirki. The apiary is located in the surrounding forest. It was destroyed and the bees poisoned. Police officers from Gostyń are working on solving the case.
– The perpetrators poisoned 21 bee colonies, about 420,000 bees. They destroyed four uninhabited hives by sealing them with mounting foam. A chemical agent was probably used to poison the bees, explains Monika Curyk, the press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Gostyń.
The police are looking for the perpetrators and appeal for help
The officers have not yet managed to establish what was the motive of the perpetrators. The losses were estimated at PLN 44,000.

The perpetrators may be imprisoned for up to five years for damaging property.
