Maciej Gramatyka from the Civic Coalition became the new president of Tychy (Silesian Voivodeship). The politician won 58.64 percent. votes, thus defeating the PiS candidate Sławomir Wróbel. Gramatyka has been ruling the city for several months as a commissioner after Andrzej Dziuba, who has been in office since 2000, won a senatorial seat.

The acting president of Tychy, Maciej Gramatyka, won in the second round of the elections and will now hold his office with the mandate obtained in the elections. Grammar won 58.64 percent. votes (21,098), while his competitor – Sławomir Wróbel from PiS – obtained support of 41.36%. (14,883 votes).

The turnout in Tychy in the second round of local elections was 39.04%.

Maciej Gramatyka is the new president of Tychy. Who is he?

Grammar belongs to the Civic Platform. In addition to KO, he was supported in the local elections by Trzecia Droga and Andrzej Dziuba's Local Government, a group associated with the former long-time mayor of the city.

In the years 2018-2023 he was the city's vice-president for social affairs. Previously, he was a member and chairman of the Tychy City Council.

In the first round of elections, Gramatyka received 46.66 percent. votes (20,089), and Wróbel 23.87 percent. (10,277). Other candidates: Dariusz Wencepel from KW Tychy Our Little Homeland – 11.93 percent. (5,138); Marek Niedbał from KKW Lewica – 11.24 percent. (4,841); Mateusz Śmiglewski from KW Klub Konfederacji Tychy – 6.3 percent. (2,711). The turnout was 46.92 percent.

KO won the most seats in the Tychy City Council – ten. Nine councilors introduced PiS. Andrzej Dziuba's Local Government Party gained five representatives, and the Tychy Our Little Homeland committee gained one.
