As estimated by the European Commission, in all EU countries up to 4 million people are professionally connected with digital platforms. On Wednesday, no later than Thursday, the European Commission will present a draft directive regulating the rules of employing employees via digital platforms – according to the information provided by Rzeczpospolita.
As Rzeczpospolita writes on Wednesday, the European Commission estimated that the value of the economy based on digital platforms in the EU has increased almost fivefold since 2016, from EUR 3 billion to around EUR 14 billion in 2020. He adds that all EU countries work now this way up to 4 million employees.
Work based on digital platforms
– Online platforms bring consumers innovation and new services. But they also have to offer those who work through them a high level of social standards, said Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights.
