A very important element of Polish fan culture are flares and other pyrotechnics often set off in the stands during important football events. Such as the European Cup qualifiers. Śląsk Wrocław fans did not miss such an opportunity this season.
UEFA showed no mercy. It punished Śląsk Wrocław for two matches
As reported 90minut.pl,14.5 thousand euros will have to pay a fine to Śląsk for the behavior of their fans during the home match of the second round of the Europa Conference League qualifiers with Latvian Riga FC (August 1). At that time, pyrotechnics were set off. That's not the end of it, the club from Wrocław also received a fine of 19 thousand euros for the same offense during the away match of the third round of the same competition with Swiss FC Sankt Gallen (August 7).
This is yet another penalty for the Polish club for the behavior of its fans during the European Cup qualifiers. After the first match of the third round of LKE qualifiers with Spartak in Trnava, Wisła Kraków had to pay a fine of 40,500 euros for the use of pyrotechnics by the White Star fans, which are prohibited. Earlier, the first league team also received a financial penalty of 8,000 euros for “fans blocking evacuation exits in individual sectors”.
Let us recall that in the two-legged second round of the Europa Conference League qualifiers, Śląsk defeated Riga FC 3:2 and advanced to the third round. At this stage, however, they lost to FC Sankt Gallen 3:4 in two-legged matches and ended their adventure with these competitions.
